• ADA was awarded a $300,000 Phase II SBIR grant from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration to develop a marine modular weather station. The weather station will be used on weather research ships and shipping container vessels to collect weather information worldwide, including variations in sea surface temperatures.

• The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Topographic Engineering Center awarded the firm a $730,000 SBIR grant for Phase II research into the development of a real time, interactive, situational awareness system. The system, which incorporates GPS and GIS capabilities with miniature environmental sensors and wireless communication, has far-reaching civilian and military applications.

• The Defense Threat Reduction Agency is funding a $100,000 project that focuses on development of a weather station system that can be quickly deployed and that will immediately display real-time weather data on a web-based system. The project explores a new application for ADA’s existing PC-based WeatherPod™ sensor technology.

• A $100,000 SBIR Phase I grant from the Department of Defense, Office of Naval Research is focused on the development of a sensor that may be used to regulate the electrolytic generation of hypohalous acid from sea water. The technology will have applications to closed loop cooling water systems and commercial vessels, in addition to military vessels.

• ADA received a $60,000 contract from the DOE to provide a mercury vapor monitoring system to the Spallation Neutron Source, the DOE’s new high-energy physics experiment facility, located near Oak Ridge, Tennessee. ADA will design and construct the system to measure mercury release in the process that generates neutrons for subatomic particle experiments.

• The National Aeronautics and Space Administration awarded ADA a $70,000 SBIR grant for Phase I research on a fire suppression technology that has applications to spacecraft, commercial and private aircraft, as well as industrial markets. The research focuses on modifying an ADA patented effervescent-gas spray nozzle for use in fighting fires in micro-gravity. ❏
